The Pre-BRC introduces you to the basics of operating and maneuvering of a 2-wheel vehicle. Designed to build your confidence, this course runs in a low-stress environment with individualized, hands-on training from our experienced motorcycle safety instructors. Students in this class will gain familiarity with the motorcycle’s controls, basic operation, and fundamental riding skills.
This course is highly recommended for the true beginner or first time rider.
The course will begin with an hour of classroom training with open discussions on motorcycle risks, the motorcycle controls and basic operation, and basic riding skills. You will then transition to a secure, off-street paved riding area for three hours of on-motorcycle experience and training. Students will learn how to control the speed of the motorcycle using the clutch (friction zone), how to shift gears, starting and stopping the motorcycle smoothly, and riding in a straight line at slow speeds.
The Pre-Basic Rider Course covers the following topics:
The Pre-BRC is not a license waiver course. This course is geared toward the new rider, allowing for additional learning and practice time before taking the Basic Rider Course in which students do take the endorsement tests.
The main benefits of this course are the slow introductory speed at which the course is taught, the smaller class size for additional one-on-one training with the instructors, and the non dismissal policy. Unlike the BRC course, students cannot be dismissed from this course if they are not able to complete the exercises.
Students who complete the Pre-BRC get $25 off a Basic Rider Course.
It is important not only to be healthy, but to have enough fitness, strength, and coordination to learn well and manage the physical demands of riding a motorcycle.
